Mediocre writing with a throwaway plot.

The main character was left at an orphanage when he was a kid. Now some guys are after him for some reason. He has to keep his daughter safe and calls on an old friend to figure out what's happening.

For a while, the mystery of the main character's past kept me interested, but the explanation has no relation to the prior story. Plot points are picked out of a hat. There's nothing satisfy …Read More

This was just as enjoyable as Assistant to the Villain. Although this installment leans much more romance-forward, I have to admit there were moments where Trystan and Evie’s dynamic started to feel a little tired. The constant push-and-pull drifted past “slow burn” and into “why are we still doing this?” territory.

I’m also starting to notice that Hannah Nicole Maehrer tends to rush her endings, stacking as many plot twists …Read More

Definitely better than the first one. But I have to admit Juliette annoyed me SO MUCH in this book. Her whole pity-party vibe was unbearable, and honestly, I just can’t stand her romance with Adam because I simply do not like that man. So reading her being a victim 40% of the time, then 40% making out with Adam or crying over him, and only in the remaining 20% something actually good happening… yeah, it was rough. But still …Read More

Oh my, this was such a fun read. I stumbled on some fanart for this book on Pinterest and picked it up on a whim, totally unaware that there were already two books out and another on the way in 2026. Zero regrets.

The playfulness of this story hooked me immediately. The concept of being the assistant to the Villain? Absolutely yes. After reading so many romantasies where the FMC and MMC fall into the same two power dynamics, …Read More

It’s honestly wild that this is a debut novel. Yulin Kuang crafted something so confident, so emotionally layered, that I would give it six stars if I could. I adore Helen and Grant. Helen especially felt like someone I knew on a soul level—her internal monologue, her quiet melancholy, the way her humor blooms once she feels safe. She’s complex in a way that feels deeply human.

I’ll never fully understand the older-sister exp …Read More

I was slipping into a bit of a genre slump, so I reached for something light, easy, and entertaining. This book delivered exactly what I needed. I’ve always enjoyed Ali Hazelwood’s work, so I trusted she’d pull me out of it, and she absolutely did.

I’ve seen many comments saying Hazelwood writes the same FMC and MMC in different settings, but honestly, I don’t mind it. She consistently excels at quiet yearning and those subtl …Read More

I went into Something Wilder really wanting to love it. Christina Lauren has given me stories that have taken up long-term residency in my brain (Love & Other Words still rents a penthouse suite up there), so I expected that same emotional imprint here. But this one… didn’t land the way I hoped.

After reading other reviews, I realized Christina and Lauren approached this book with one clear intention: fun. And yes, the book h …Read More
